A Proverbial Thought

There's a proverb of sorts that says something to this effect: "Throw a rock into a pack of dogs--- the one that yelps is the one that got hit."

You will find some yelping going on here. What is the cause for these yelps? Whenever anything is mentioned about biblical separation, and especially its application to disobedient brothers, the yelps ring out.

I have argued before that the difference between Fundamentalism and Evangelicalism historically as well as currently is the issue of separation from disobedient brothers. This is actually conceded by one commenter who officially "relinquishes" the term Fundamentalist during the discussion. Biblical separation is the dividing line, the watershed issue.

While I am disappointed to see someone turn their back on what I believe to be historic biblical Christianity, I am at least pleased to see that the issues are becoming more clear. Dr. McCune mentioned in his message last Wednesday at the ACCC Convention that there seems to be a segment of professed Fundamentalism that is always calling for more biblical proof, for more exegesis, for extended explanation--- not because they are curious or desiring to learn, because nothing will satisfy them. I have seen that same phenomenon: sometimes I doubt they would believe even if Lazarus came back from the dead!

With more clarity comes the departure of some. As they come to understand what Fundamentalism is, they realize they have no interest in it. But until then, they will continue yelping every time the topic of biblical separation from disobedient brothers is raised.

They just won't "Weblog Watch" him anymore.

(I wrote this to see if Greg is listening!)

Believer it or not, I've been a bit busy to "Weblog Watch" the last couple of weeks. I've still got my eye on you, though, Scott!

(That just sounds a little too creepy...)

Mark,

You're still in my good graces (for whatever that's worth). Hope I don't get your OBF status revoked! :)

Scott,

Greg's eyes "run to and fro" throughout the blogosphere. Anyway, I just wrote this post to try to get Joel to sign up for a blogger id. [heh, heh]

As I was writing this post, every time I checked the thread, the yelpings was growing louder and more strident. Very interesting.
