"Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when they shall no longer say, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ but ‘As the LORD lives who brought up and led the offspring of the house of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.’ Then they shall dwell in their own land" (Jer 23:7–8).
The exodus from Egypt was the unifying event for Israel as she entered the promised land the first time (cf. 1 Cor 10:1–2). Similarly, the future regathering of national Israel under the rule of the righteous Branch of David (cf. vv. 5–6) will be that same kind of unifying event. Just as God's special concern and faithful care for his nation was demonstrated by his deliverance of Israel from Egypt, even more so will his renewed care and mercy be shown by the restoration of the nation. That momentous event in Jewish history, the exodus from Egypt under Moses, will be eclipsed by an even greater event, the coming of the Kingdom of the Messiah, Jesus the Christ.
