Ever get the feeling you're missing something very important? Today I was teaching from Colossians 3 and it struck me that the basis of Paul's argument in chapters three and four is the fact that we have died and risen again with Christ.
Then later today, I was contemplating the three times in the book of Galatians that Paul mentions identification with Christ in his crucifixion. In Galatians 2:20, Paul says that he is no longer under the jurisdiction of the Mosaic Law because in Christ he has died to the Law. In Galatians 5:24, he mentions that believers are dead to the "old man" (the life before Christ)and its attendent lifestyle because of their identification with Christ's death. In Galatians 6:14, Paul says that he has died to the world and its fame and glory because of his position in Christ.
Perhaps everybody else already knew this and I'm just catching on, but maybe if we really had a grip on who we are in Christ, it wouldn't be such a stretch to "set our minds on things above, not on things that are on earth" (Col 3:2).
